The First Place To Start – Public Transit

First on the list is public transportation, the STM is running the Metro all night, also there are free shuttle buses which travel through primary locations of the festival. The last thing you want to spend your time in is looking for parking, stuck in traffic and drinking and driving.


Art in Montreal’s Underground City – Art Souterrain

Founded in 2009, Art Souterrain – underground art– is an organization bent on democratizing and popularizing contemporary art. During Montreal’s Nuit Blanche, an exhibition of about 50 contemporary and live performance artists put on displays along a 6 km circuit of Montreal’s underground city.

You will be able to take part in performances, meeting the artists and in addition free artistic mediation will be offered all evening on the theme “True or False”.

Free and open to all, the Underground Art Festival, which runs until March 24th, is one of the major events of the winter season in Montreal.


MONTREAL WORLD PREMIERE – Thierry Mugler Couturissime

The exhibition created and produced by the MMFA reveals the multiple worlds of Thierry Mugler – by revisiting his prêt-à-porter and haute couture creations. More than 140 garments made between 1973 and 2001, most of which are being shown for the first time, as well as a wealth of unpublished archival documents and sketches.

The opening is scheduled for 5 pm and runs until midnight. The MMFA is offering a special Nuit Blanche admission price, $11.50.

Karaoke On Ice

Skate and sing to your heart’s content at the Old Montreal outdoor skating rink, or you can just scream and shout, but remember to let it all out. The event is hosted by Montreal own Chouchoune.

Alive at Night: Art, Music & History at McGill-Nuit Vive McGill

Enjoy free flashlight tours of the art and architecture in Redpath Hall, a renowned 19th century building, and one of the oldest at McGill. Animated by a multimedia presentation, and followed by a live, multi-instrumental musical performance, these tours promise to bring the past, present, and future of McGill to life.

There will be a total of four tours throughout the night: two in English and two in French. Each tour will accommodate 30 persons and last approximately 60 minutes. The tours are free, but registration is required.

The starting point for each tour will be at the Roddick Gates, on Sherbrooke Street West (corner McGill College Avenue). The schedule for the tours is as follows:

9:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Tour 1 (FRENCH)

10:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Tour 2 (ENGLISH)

11:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. Tour 3 (FRENCH)

12:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. Tour 4 (ENGLISH)

The Night of 100 Improvisers

The Theater Sainte-Catherine is hosting a crazy improvisation evening, featuring the best improvisers in the city. Not only will they change improvisers, style, and language every hour, but inspiration from different forms of art will be included in the scenes!

Flashlight Tour of the Red Path Museum

Ever dreamed of being in a museum at night? With your flashlight in hand, illuminate the secrets of ancient civilizations, human evolution, dinosaurs, and Quebec wildlife! Dive into the future with various activities animated by students, volunteers and special guests.

Encrypted Stories

Immerse yourself in stories from the past to imagine a future of disrupted communication at the Montreal Jewish Museum. Explore a labyrinth of Yuula Benivolski’s portraits from The Ocean Between Us, discover coded letters written by a Trotskyist dissident Jewish poet, journalist and political prisoner of the Gulag, and encrypt messages of your own!
