Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants winners include 26 from Montreal. ‘Four make top 10 list.’

Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants has published its fifth annual ranking, and the top-ranking 2019 list includes 26 Montreal restaurants. Toronto’s Alo, headed by chef-owner Patrick Kriss tops the list as Canada’s best and Montreal’s Joe Beef (2), Toqué!(3), Le Mousso(6), and Montréal Plaza(8) all placed in the top 10.

The ranking is based on the opinions and votes of chefs, restaurateurs, customers, food writers, and critics. Montreal ties Toronto, for the most top-ranking restaurants, each with 26 of the 100.

The Canadian restaurant scene is continuously evolving; 33 of the restaurants on 2015 top 50 are no longer part of the elite society. Nearly one-third of the restaurants are from Quebec, including Quebec City’s, Battuto (84), Initial (72), and from Mirabel, Cabane À Sucre PDC (81), La Cabane d’à Côté (66, TIED).
