Special Weather Statement in Effect For Sunday – Snow, Freezing Rain, and Poor Traveling Conditions

Late this afternoon Environment Canada issued special weather statement in effect for:

  • Montreal Island area
  • Châteauguay – La Prairie area
  • Laval area
  • Longueuil – Varennes area

A low-pressure system from the United States will reach Southern Quebec Sunday morning. This system will bring snow with amounts between 10 and 15 centimetres over the greater Montreal area.

Expect poor traveling conditions due to low visibility and snow accumulation on the roads.

Sunday’s forecast for the Montreal island area:

Cloudy. Snow beginning early in the morning then changing to rain in the afternoon. Risk of freezing rain in the afternoon. Local blowing snow in the morning. Snowfall amount 10 to 15 cm. Wind northeast 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming southeast 30 gusting to 50 in the afternoon. High plus 2. Wind chill minus 16 in the morning.

Night, Periods of rain changing to snow overnight. Wind southwest 30 km/h gusting to 60. Low minus 1. Wind chill minus 8 overnight.
